Being one of the winners of this competition is truly amazing. It is a wonderful experience, and the second time was just as fun as my first time winning. The winners were chosen at the live round of the competition, which was held back in January. After that, all the winners had about four months coaching sessions with Maestro Niel Deponte, the Executive Artistic Director of MetroArts, as well as playthroughs, in which the winners play for each other. I think that those coaching sessions, and playthroughs are great experiences, because it is always a good experience to play in front of other people.
I played the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Op. 28, by Camille Saint-Saens. I chose this piece because I think it's a very fun and virtuosic piece of music. This piece was hard to learn, but it was so fun to play and I really enjoyed working on this piece.
